i'm not dead, i swear!

hey everyone. real life has gotten involved and bar experiences have been sparse lately. i started a new job which i think will be my career - the first time i felt this way since my aspirations of becoming an us army lieutenant in high school. the deal breaker? my current employers host happy hours. booyah achieved. put booze in front of a half viking/half potato eater like myself, and you have a loyal employee. in the meantime, i started to read my pop's fellow angels' season ticket holder's blog here, and i must say, i can honestly say that i agree with every word the man says. i'm not a matsui fan by any stretch. i think japanese ballplayers are cool and all, but godzilla and his less than monstrous knees just aged what was one of the fastest teams in baseball. lackey is a traitor; i'm not surprised. i'm ashamed to share the same birthday as him.

okay, enough of my baseball fuming. currently, i'm working on a few low lifes (miller? ew! i know! jessica picked them up, so i suppose beggars can't be choosers). i'm listening to some awesome playlist of electro/dance mashups that jessica put together and i must say i'm smitten with it. electronica is my guilty pleasure. i've been jamming along with the tracks on my bass too.

more to come soon. i'm finally on a solid schedule with mainly weekends off. we should see more adventures with marky. in the meantime....

stay thirsty, my friends.

we're always down with the crown.

as previously advertised, we went to crown and anchor. i was jonesing for a properly poured pint, and rob, the graveyard bartender, is a master of the craft. i started with a couple of old speckled hens then switched up to the abbott ale (marky reminded me via text that i needed it), while jessica stuck with stellas all night.

we started off on the machines. i broke even. jessica wasn't so 'lucky'. one thing we realized (which is extremely strange for the crown) was over the sound system, it was the xm version of radio disney. jessica was telling me about the black eyed peas' new single and there is a line that says 'mazel tov' within no context of the song. i didn't believe her until that moment. (side note: i used to love the bep: their first two albums were considered underground rap - until will.I.am sold out and got that tweeker chick fergie. will, you said it best- "money is a drug and mc's are on it.") so, the selection had to change. we did the humane thing and dumped 10 bucks into the juke. it was the right thing to do. i chose a block of duran duran: kicked it off with "come undone" and "hungry like the wolf". boom. we felt much better after achieving jukebox dominance. darts ensued: the series was tied at a 1-1 record.

our era of good feelings ended when we were subjected to the unlv grad student beast.

i tried to ignore her, i really did... but when we heard "and like, and like" every two seconds over simon le bon admitting he was 'on the hunt and after you', it was too much. such gems included: -

"i'm a grad student! daddy pays my rent!"

and -

"i was a hot fucking mess, i had sooooo much to drink." (she was the only head there who didn't have a pint in hand- i call bullshit.)

crestfallen, jess and i left the dartboards and twitterjousted. we both got obsessed with a patron eating hotwings, (at one point in my beersoaked brain, i thought it would be fun to punch himand run off with his plate) so we paid our tab and headed to buffalo wild wings and gorged ourselves on 45 cent wingies. my stomach is still reeling from it.

mazel tov.

PTs Happy Hour - Always A Good Choice

so last night, we decided on PTs. usually we head to the tropicana and 95 location: it's a quiet and unassuming place that we play darts and pool. we headed there and like odyessus, we were rerouted because of scylla and charibdis. okay, more like freeway construction. after driving around we found the tropicana and maryland parkway location. three words: half. off. drinks. other than some douchy college kids ("let's do some tequila shots! yeah! i am a college kid! i can drink!" then followed by staggering out the door), it was a lot of fun. jessica and I got into a twitter war (add us by the way: me- a45topaytherent; jess- StaticDreamGirl) and made friends with the on call bartender, vincent. he was nice enough to remake jessica's vodka tonic and give her both at no charge. ended the night with some jack in the box... cheeseburgers and tacos are the drunk's relief corps. I tried talking jessica into del taco but she wasn't budging. i admit, i'm glad she didn't. we're at crown and anchor now. more to come.

we're in it to win it.

booyah achieved

we've been talking about doing this for years... finally got the motivation to get it going. our first blog should be up soon. i'm not entirely sure where we're going tonight. jessica just got off of work so slamming a tall boy (see pic below) while she gets prettied up. i'm going to finish the beer up and we will be on our way. more soon.
